Tower of Trials - Tips

You’ll ascend up to 10 floors in the Central Tower and defeat waves of enemies, while gaining valuable loot and influencing your path as you make your way to the top.

Some helpful tips to keep in mind:

  • It costs 5 Coins of Valor to enter, so make sure you’re ready before you spend your hard-earned coin.
  • It’s randomized each time, meaning enemies, mid-bosses, and loot is different every time you play the Tower of Trials.
  • You only have 3 lives before returning to the Sanctum. So make them count.
  • The symbols on the doors correspond to the type of loot you’ll find behind it. More on that below.
  • More Keys can be obtained by defeating enemies quickly as you move up the elevator, but also behind Key doors

Tower of Trials - How to Start

When you first begin the Tower of Trials, you’ll need to activate the switch in the center to begin moving the elevator upwards.

Each floor corresponds to an individual Trial, which you can see in the top left corner.

You’ll begin by defeating waves of enemies before the time runs out. Based on how quickly you eliminate them, you’ll receive more Keys (used to unlock loot chests in the upcoming rooms).

After you reach the next floor you’ll be presented with 3 randomized doors to enter. Only one door can be chosen.

Tower of Trials - What Do The Door Symbol Colors Mean?

The symbols on the doors during the Tower of Trials may seem like random sigils, but they do in fact have a meaning.

First, the color of the symbols corresponds to the rarity of the loot or item behind the door. It follows the same color scheme as the loot acquired in Godfall.

In order from worst to best it’s:

Green - Blue - Purple - Orange, with orange doors providing a guaranteed legendary drop.

Tower of Trials - What Do The Door Symbol Icons Mean?

The icon in the center of the symbol represents what type of loot or room you’ll find.

Some symbols will contain the five weapon classes:

Greatsword, Longsword, Polearm, Dual Blades, and Warhammer

Some symbols will feature other armory items that can be obtained such as:

Life Stones, Rings, Charms, Amulets, Banners, and Augments

The Augment icons can specifically be for Might, Spirit, Vitality, or a random of the three. You can determine which type it is by looking near the bottom of the symbol.

Tower of Trials - Which Doors to Choose

So, now that you know what the door symbols mean, the next question is which door should you choose? You'll want to select a door that corresponds to the type of loot you're looking for. Although the loot itself is still randomized, you can influence the type of weapon or item that you're guaranteed to find behind each door.

When you enter the room, you’ll need to survive against waves of enemies (including regular and elite enemies) and potentially mid-bosses as you progress higher up the tower.

After all enemies have been defeated, you’ll be given the opportunity to open a number of chests in the middle of the arena. You’re always guaranteed a “free” chest, but the others can be opened using Keys you’ve acquired during your run.

The number of keys needed to open the chests are as follows:

  • Green - 3 Keys
  • Blue - 5 Keys
  • Purple - 7 Keys
  • Orange - 10 Keys

Tower of Trials - How to Access Special Rooms

There are also special room symbols that can appear on the doors in addition to weapon and gear rooms. These are:

  • Boon Spring rooms (Might, Spirit, and Vitality)
  • Treasure Troves
  • Key rooms.

Boon Spring rooms offer Divination Springs when the enemies are defeated that allow you to select a Divination (buff) for your character that persists through the entire Tower of Trials run. Be sure to select something that complements your existing build. The type of Boon Spring is indicated by the icon on the door (Might, Spirit, or Vitality).

Treasure Trove rooms offer a guaranteed treasure chest of the rarity listed on the door. There are no enemies to fight here.

Lastly, Key rooms allow you to fight enemies for a chance at more Keys. The quicker you defeat the enemies, the more Keys you’ll receive (as indicated by the bar at the top of the screen).
